here's a jc fubar decision that i experienced.. i dealt with a brother who threatened to kill his family, my family, and then himself.
this guys' secret sins were becoming manifest and as an elder some things came to my attention, including wife abuse and according to her, allegations of possible misconduct with the young daughter.
The thing is people always remember the bad more than the good many times in life.
Snapshots are never a good way to judge a person or a group. One has to see the whole movie.
While this is true in general, it doesn't fit these circumstances. This is a controlling organization that claims to represent "The Only True God" on earth today. Even snapshots of abuse and corruption are relevant to debunking that false claim.
i asked my dad that years ago and he said that it wouldn't start until the new system comes.
does this not make sense to anybody else?

It is like them saying the "great crowd" in heaven in Revelation 19 is somehow a different "great crowd" from the one in the temple in Revelation 7, which for no explicable reason is supposedly on earth.

I've considered something similar but more subtle. Just open the 1984 Watchtower bound volume to the cover of May 15, 1984 and leave it open on the table. Every time you get a chance alone in the library, do this. Maybe also write up a version of the 607/587 KISS list of Babylonian kings and their reigns, with WT references, and leave it and the references out on the table showing 587. There's a lot of subtle stuff one can do with their own library if you have access.

he could have provided evidence through jesus to millions of non-believers, instead of focusing on a small band of fanatical followers eager to point to 'the messiah'.he could at any time, being the ultimate of beings, just simply show himself in the sky, speak to millions instead of to the lonely occasional deluded sheepherder in the desert, or provide miracles to millions of us as observers - part the ocean, cure cancer and announce it from heaven in a clear unmistakable voice, or instantaneously stop starvation and plague in it's tracks.

My take on the question, "Why is god hiding?" is currently the following*:
We can not see god because he's everywhere. The universe IS god, the creator. It isn't a "He" or a "She" but rather it is just the natural arrangement of all things. It isn't a separate conscious entity but rather exists within all things because it IS all things. We can live in harmony with it or we can oppose it.
Religions have tried to humanize it by giving it anthropomorphic characteristics but have only served to confuse and enslave people to human organizations. Religions suck.
(*: I say "currently" because I am still on the journey. In fact, I feel that being raised a Dub, my journey is only just beginning.)
sorry, to be so blunt- for a whole day i have watched people here patting themselves on the back- we're a large army, oohh, look out wt, we might do something, well not today or tomorrow, but someday!
maybe, i have to just accept that a lot of jw's who are exiting the kh by the back door will never find a backbone to stand up to mummy and elder daddy.. jw's have a learned ability to see themselves in a better light than everyone else sees them.
ask a jw, if they are a charitable religion and they would likely all say they are, but when pressed to name a charity they will be unable to do so.

let me explain a little about what i do each day...... i work for a company that arranges trusts in the cook islands, turks & caicos, panama, etc.
i know that blondie is against what i am about to say, but i do not just believe that the wts have a variety of trusts in various jurisdictions around the world......i am absolutely positive they do.. .
i personally look after 14 trusts.
MadSweeney, I very much doubt that a group of men who 'vote' on policy instead of checking the bible, who allowed the Malawians to suffer while allowing the Mexican brothers to simply bribe government officials to claim they'd SERVED in the army, who have the flagrant hypocrisy to print that article in the July 2009 Awake and then continue to reinforce the practice of 'shunning', would remain naive about where the money is going in the 'cash cow'...
The current GB is not comprised of the same people who did those things, Zid. Barber and Jaracz are the only old timers left, and Barber can't even wipe his own drool anymore. They don't write the articles for the magazines and it seems obvious that much of their decision-making over the last decade or more comes from the corporate side of things, not the religious side.
It wouldn't surprise me if some of the GB members know where the money goes but I seriously doubt it is something the entire group deals with. They have been effectively marginalized and neither the rank and file, nor most of the general public seem to know it.
